How does it work?
This is a structured course of 1 year (with optional 2nd, 3rd and 4th years). You will join a cohort and become a class who study together. Study takes between 5 and 7 hours per week and you can study from a computer, tablet or phone.
Each week:
• You’ll be given access to 2 video lectures to watch in your time
• You’ll complete textbook readings and exercises in your time
• You may optionally attend live extracurricular activities including specialist classes such as Prophetic Activation and Prayer/Intercession rooms.
• You’ll interact online with your class through group forums to prophesy over each other, share testimony, discuss study and similar.
Each fortnight:
• You’ll attend a scheduled live class (online or in person) at a specific time
Twice yearly:
• You’ll attend intensive workshops in your capital city for practical training and activation
Many hub groups also meet up in person for social catch-ups, outreach activities and prayer.
You are not required to submit any assignments. There are exercises you will be given and we trust that you are completing these in order to grow.
Location – Where are your hubs?
We train in hubs in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa and the U.K.
You can select to attend:
• Intensive workshops only in a capital twice yearly,
Or
• Also attend a fortnightly face-to-face class in a capital as well as intensive workshops.
Why Study – How will School prepare me for my call?
Three pillars will prepare you:
Foundational Teaching – instruction on God and the Kingdom of Heaven
Demonstration – seeing others model living and ministering with Jesus
Activation – exercises and opportunities for you to practice yourself
You’ll sit under elders who will speak into your life and kickstart you into a supernatural lifestyle of influence. You’ll also be surrounded by other revivalists and the momentum will help carry you to places you couldn’t go alone.
You’ll also be exposed to different people walking out their calls – this helps you see what living for Jesus looks like in different areas of passion or industries. This will help you hone in on your calling, and also demonstrate the path to walking out your call. For example, you may gain clearer understanding of how Jesus operates in the arts, business or government. You may even be able to connect in an ongoing way with other mature Christians walking out what you hope to move into.
Qualification – What do I receive upon completion?
SOF is a practical school focussing on experience and preparation. We emphasise students being capable, able and mature in their calls over paper qualifications.
For this reason, the School offers a document that states you have completed 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Year at SOF. We call this a certificate of completion. The Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry course is widely known throughout the world and recognised as a good ministry training course in many charismatic church denominations.
In order to maintain our ‘hands-on’ preparation focus, the School does not presently offer higher education certification or course credits.
We trust that you’ll genuinely encounter Jesus and grow, gain experience and personally develop – which will be evident to those around you.
Age – How old are students at the School?
We have students of all ages from 18 - 80. Younger students look to study at School to prepare for the start of their career. We have many students in their 50s who are empty-nesters preparing for God to use them now they have time. We are also blessed to have many students near or in their 70s, people with life experience who are ready to give all to live their lives for Jesus. Anyone over 18 may apply (over 17 in certain circumstances).
Trustworthy – Can I trust what the School teaches?
We always teach listening to Jesus, and He’s the most trustworthy person to guide you. You’re coming to School to sit at Jesus feet for a year, and He is faithful to teach and transform you as you do.
Our instructors are men and women with deep relationships with God who are also producing good fruit in their lives. They will encourage you to follow Jesus and will share from their journeys about how they sought more of Him.
We always encourage our students to ask questions and think for themselves. We say, “eat the meat and spit out the bones” – if something doesn’t resonate with you, put it on your mental shelf and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you about it – He’ll guide you into all truth. Finally, the Bible says a tree can be judged by its fruit – take a look at some of the students’ testimonies and judge the merits of School from what Jesus has done in their lives. Remember, you’re coming to run towards God with others, and be taught by Jesus. If that’s your intention, we trust that Jesus is faithful to draw you closer to Himself and you’ll have a great year of transformation.
What if I can’t make an intensive workshop date?
You can attend an intensive workshop in a different state at a different time, or you may miss 1 round of intensive workshops and make it up at the end of your course. For example, if you miss the March/April workshop, you can attend August/September and make up your missed workshop in March/April the following year.
Technology – What if I struggle with technology?
We have students in our course who are over 70 and starting online learning for the first time, and they find they are now accustomed to the technology we use. We like to keep our systems as simple as possible – watching a video, receiving an email, clicking a link, checking a Facebook group, and similar. We also have an Orientation week for new students to train in our systems, and our staff are available weekdays to assist you as well.
Do I have to be part of a church?
You don’t have to currently have a home church to apply to School. We encourage our students to be part of a local church but also understand there are seasons when you may be between home churches due to a change in life circumstances. Whether or not you are attending a church, we always encourage our students to continue in fellowship with other believers to remain supported and strong as the body of Christ.
